What do you do when you run out of points+?

August 3, 2011 by DanicasDaily 21 Comments

Happy Wednesday all!  I knew better than to do it, but……I was trying ~ really trying to be good…..

Last night I was HUNGRY at like 8 PM, but, I figured it would go away.  I drank water and more water.

When I decided to go to bed at 10 PM, I was STILL really hungry.  I thought about a string cheese or maybe some fruit, but, decided I wanted sleep more than food.

LESSON LEARNED!

I think last night’s hunger made today one STARVING DAY…as in NOTHING at all satisfied me.  As in, by the time I got to work, I was ready to chew my arm off……Note to self…if you are genuinely hungry at night, have a snack already!

It is days like today that I know better than to drink my calories, but, I had already planned on making my very own BISCOFF LATTE!!! And, honestly, how to you say NO to that.

Insert 1 Tbsp of Biscoff Spread into an extra hot small latte, let it melt a little and swirl

~ 5 points+ and worth every cinnamony brown sugar sip.

This totally takes having your cookies & milk to a whole new level!

IMG_5348

I couldn’t wait at all today to dig into breakfast.  I had originally planned on using my bread to make an Egg Sandwich at lunch, but, knew my breakfast needed more.

2 slices Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain bread topped with 1 Tbsp Whipped Butter (5 points+).

IMG_5352

Protein power ~ Morning Star Veggie Sausage (2 points+)

IMG_5350

Plus a TON of watermelon/pineapple.   The part that was crazy….I was STILL hungry.

IMG_5351

I managed to wait about 2 hours then busted into a Pre-Yoga Snack.  Yes, I could’ve made a better choice that was less points+ but I went with what I wanted.

Salty, crunchy, cheesy plus more cheese!

Annie’s Organic Snack Mix in a 1 oz pack with 1 Lite String Cheese (5 points+).

IMG_4787

We had a sub instructor today at Yoga and she was AWESOME!  It always amazes me how Gentle/Hatha/Restorative Yoga seems to ring out all the stress you have going on.

On my way back, I decided to grab Tacubaya because I felt like I needed something with staying power.

I spent WAY TOO MUCH time in line because I changed my order in my head about 5 times.

I ended up getting TWO of their Crunchy Chicken Tacos. (10 points+)

“Taco de Pollo– crispy taco filled with shredded organic chicken, cheese, cucumber-tomato salsa and cilantro.”

IMG_4142

Plus the salad I am IN LOVE with!  This is only a HALF salad ~ crazy huge (3 points+)

“Ensalada de Primavera– mixed greens, shredded cabbage, carrots, red onion and avocado tossed in a lemon vinaigrette, sprinkled with toasted pumpkin seeds.”

IMG_3241

The BEST PART ~ I was finally full!  The worst part….um, that whole points+ thing.  I know I still have WPA left, but, I hate being at the end of my points+ for the day BEFORE dinner.

So, what’s a girl to do? I turn to my BESTEST FRIEND all year long ~ HUGE Salads Open-mouthed smile

IMG_5371

You see ~ I can pile a ton of 0 points+ veggies in a big bowl and layer on just a few things that I LOVE for very little points+

IMG_5368

* Organic Mixed Greens & Organic Romaine

* Organic snap peas, cucumbers, orange sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes & green onions

* 1/2 a grilled corn cobb from last night (1 points+)

* 1 Tbsp Dry Roasted Sunflower Seeds (1 points+)

* 1 Tbsp Newman’s Lite Lime Vinaigrette + 1 Tbsp White Balsamic (1 points+)

As much as The Husband LOVES steak, he also LOVES Big Build Your Own Salads…..

IMG_5373

Plus what he couldn’t fit on his salad ~ His Anti-Pasta Bowl LOL.

IMG_5374

Since I am FINALLY content, I am sure I will not need anything else. If I do, there is watermelon calling my name Smile

You still have time to ENTER TO WIN YOUR VERY OWN PASTA MAKING KIT!

Q’s

When you are running low on points+/calories or have nothing left for the day, what do you do?  Do you make a low points+ meal or skip it?  I’d love to know your ideas

Night all!

    I had that kind of day on Monday and Tuesday this week. I attribute it to having too many sweets. They are pointy and they make me want to eat everything in site! The worst part is that I don’t even care for sweets that much, but once I started there was no control!

    When I’m low on P+, I have a low point but satisfying meal and track it. Yesterday I stopped for sushi carryout for dinner because it’s point-friendly and comforting for me.

    Even if I am out of WPA, I do the same. It’s better to see a bold red -5 or -10 WPA balance in my online tracker than to throw in the towel completely and pig out “because I’ve already blown it.”

    It took me a long time to learn that lesson, but it’s worked for me. On the old plan, I’d occasionally have a -20 WPA balance at the end of the week and still see a loss. I’m sure if I did that on a regular basis it would catch up with me, but tracking those points kept me from completely binging some weeks.

    Is it the weather? Or the time of year? I couldn’t get enough to eat this whole week. I have dipped into my weeklies and I just hope I have enough to get me through the weekend.

    That dinner salad looks great. I make a biggie every day for lunch. It’s what you call lots of chew.

    I absolutely have a low point soup or salad, because if I skip it, I just get hungry later and it’s game over. Have a GREAT Thursday Danica!!!

    One of my favorite super low points plus meals (for anytime – *I love breakfast for dinner*) is and Eggbeaters omelet (I use Southwestern style) and add 2 T of F/F shredded cheddar (0p+), some shredded veggies if I have them, 3 slices of Jennie-O Extra Lean Turkey Bacon (1p+) (***Yes!! that’s 3, count ’em – 3 slices for 1 pt) and if I’m feeling adventurous like splurging an extra point – I’ll toss it all in a small 1pt+ LaTortilla tortilla and maybe add a little 0pt+ salsa!

    That’s a huge meal for only 2 or 3 points depending on whether or not you use a tortilla. NOM!!! It’s often my “go to” quick meal at night when I’m exhausted after Zumba & just want to eat, shower, & zone out. Good stuff.

    Don’t beat yourself up – it happens… and we move on and try not to let the next day get the better of us, right? Love ya D!!!

    Gotta try to Biscoff Latte. MMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Remember you can always hit into your 49 points if that’s what you need. Sometimes I will eat a fruit popicle or fudgecicle if I need sweet after I try fruit. Going to bed always works but that’s only if it’s after 8:30 or so.

    I just eat fruit and veggies.

    @Noura…that “Eggbeaters omelet” sounds delish!

    I’m have to try it.

    Danica,

    Love your website. Keep up the good work. It’s helping me a lot.
    Many thanks!!

    skip? Nope…never. I just try, like you, to find a way to eat as many low or zero point foods as possible. It isn’t always easy though, and sometimes not practical…but what can you do. I like to eat toooo much to ever skip a meal. It makes me sad. and then I just feel sorry for myself. And when I get like that…look out. Bad news. I tend to throw in the towel and just eat whatever I want. Bad.

    I have been with WW since Feb 26 and always use all of my weeklies…I don’t ever eat my acitivity points though. If I have run out of daily and weekly points and I am truly hungry, I will have fruit, jello, or go to bed. Sometimes I feel like going to bed early not because I am tired necessarily, but because I want to get up and eat breakfast. I have done pretty well so far, but sometimes I am HUNGRY and nothing satisfies me. When I have those kinds of days, I login to our WW meeting’s facebook page and get ideas and support from my WW peeps…they are awesome!!!

    Skipping is def not an option for me… can’t sleep with my tummy grumbling. I will usually make a veggie stir fry with a sauce made of soy sauce, sriracha, ginger & garlic (if I want something warm).

    Typically, I just go to bed, or go have a piece of fruit, but last night (are we coming up on a full moon, or what???) nothing good for me would do. I polished off the rest of my TJ’s Peanut Butter Goodies cookies. All 8 of them that were left. I don’t do *that* often, but last night I just went for them!

    If I start out using lots of points, I opt for the omlet as described above for lunch and/or supper. I TRY to use the fruit as an evening-hunger option. But also have used popcorn and gone for the filler type points. Also dipping veggies in Boathouse Ranch dressing. So glad you asked this questions as I’ve read everyone’s thoughts and happy to know I’m not alone:-)

    I eat a low point meal and then go after some activity points by taking a walk after it gets dark, when it’s finally cool enough to be outside.

    When I’m out of points, I’ll have an apple, a banana, or some carrots, celery sticks and radishes, along with a big glass of water. That’s usually enough to hold me until bed time.

    If it’s at night and at home I tend to refill with a spoon of almond butter for desert. If not, I gobble some fresh fruit. If I am really looking for taste I eat some tea biscuits with a cup of tea. None of these re to filling and they all carry nutritious properties.

    HI Sarah,

    I would totally buy their individual portions ~ If I didn’t already have 2 jars, I would be all over it – that’s a great deal!
